What is IEEE?

The IEEE - The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - is a worldwide professional society devoted to advancing the theory and application of electrical engineering. Currently IEEE has more than 365,000 members in over 150 countries, 68,000 of those members being students.

IEEE's Mission

The IEEE promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession.

Why Join IEEE?

With your IEEE membership you be part of a worldwide known society that promotes the well being of the human race through advancements in electrical, computer and electronics engineering. Your membership will allow you to subscribe to IEEE publications, such as the IEEE Spectrum and The Institute, create your own IEEE email alias (yourname@ieee.org), and better yet, have the chance to network with colleagues and fellow IEEE members. Your membership will also give you access to the IEEE Job Site, which allows you to search job postings, post your resume, and learn more about companies looking for innovators like you. By joining the UT Tyler IEEE student branch will have the chance to participate in a variety of activities. The UT Tyler IEEE student branch holds fund-raising events, organizes field trips, gives its members the opportunity to interact with corporate professionals, participates in regional conferences, etc... The possibilities are unlimited with us!
